Northwest Ohio has a rich agricultural heritage with nearly 100 greenhouse establishments producing and providing vegetable transplants, traditional bedding plants and specialty floriculture crops to regional and national wholesale and retail markets.  To address varied industry needs, The Ohio State University Extension system dedicated the Agricultural Business Enhancement Green Industry Center to enhance production systems, increase profitability, and encourage adoption of research-based practices by green industry businesses in Northwest Ohio.

The ABE Green Industry Center’s floriculture extension program aims to assist growers by providing timely, research-based information on crop development, nutrition, insect and pest management, as well as marketing and business support to increase the productivity and profitability of greenhouse producers and businesses.  The ABE Green Industry Center works collaboratively with extension educators, researchers at The Ohio State University and similar land grant institutions, the United States Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service Greenhouse Production Research Group, as well as public and private enterprises in the United States and abroad to provide greenhouse producers and businesses with current, accurate information.
